What is the Bulk SMS Feature?

The Bulk SMS feature allows Upper users to send messages to their customers in bulk, making communication faster and more efficient. This versatile tool can be used in various scenarios, such as:

  • Sharing special offers or discount deals

  • Providing important updates and announcements

Instead of sending messages individually, the Bulk SMS feature lets you reach multiple customers with just a few clicks, ensuring timely and consistent communication.

Here’s How You Can Get Started With the Bulk SMS Feature

1. Log in to your Upper account.

2. Select the “Route Plans” tab from the menu on the left-hand side of the dashboard.

3. Choose the route plan to which you want to send bulk messages.

4. Go to “Review Routes”.

5. Click on the three-dot menu next to the driver’s name.

6. Select “Send Bulk Messages”.

7. Compose your message. Write your message in the SMS screen that appears. You can select contacts individually or use the ‘Select All’ option.

8. Preview your message. Upper provides a mobile screen preview to show how your message will appear to customers.

9. Once satisfied, send your message.

How to Use the Upper’s Bulk SMS Feature

  1. Write a clear and concise message: Compose the message you want to send to your customers, ensuring it is clear and concise.
  2. Use available tags to personalize the content: Enhance your messages with tags like Company Name, Delivery Date, Delivery Time, Customer Name, and more to provide a personalized experience for your customers.
  3. Choose your recipients: Select the customers to whom you want to send the message from your list. Ensure that their phone numbers are added in the route details; only then will you be able to send the message.
  4. Select multiple recipients simultaneously: You can choose multiple recipients simultaneously to save time.
  5. Preview your message: As you type your message, you will get a preview of how it will appear on your customers’ screens.
  6. Send the message: Hit the send button and let Upper handle the rest.
  7. Monitor delivery status in real-time: Track the status of your messages in real-time, whether they are delivered or failed.

The ‘Route Plan SMS Detailed Report’ allows you to select the route plan name, SMS type (out for delivery, upcoming delivery, missed delivery, failed delivery, bulk), and status, providing a comprehensive summary of your SMS activity.
  • Sort and filter: You can filter reports by route plan name, SMS type (out for delivery, upcoming delivery, missed delivery, failed delivery, or bulk), and status.

The standard character limit for SMS messages is 120 characters.

Currently, Upper does not offer SMS scheduling. However, based on customer feedback, we are considering adding this feature in future updates.

While there’s no strict limit, sending many SMS messages at once might impact delivery speed. We recommend sending messages in batches for optimal performance.

Currently, bulk SMS is primarily designed for customers on routes. However, we are exploring options to expand this feature in the future.

Upper provides detailed reports on SMS delivery status, including successful deliveries, failures, and other relevant metrics.

If a phone number is incorrect or invalid, the SMS will fail to deliver. Upper will provide you with a report of failed deliveries so you can take the necessary action.
